James brings broad industry knowledge to his primary role – creating and managing investment portfolios for private clients, along with those introduced to RBC Brewin Dolphin by independent financial advisers (IFAs).
A Chartered Wealth Manager and Chartered Financial Planner, James qualified as a Mechanical Engineer from Cardiff University, moving from aerospace engineering into the financial services sector in 2005. He has a keen interest in Chinese history and economics, holding a master’s degree from Sheffield University’s School of East Asian Studies.
He gained invaluable experience and expertise at Bath-headquartered Epoch Wealth Management, where he was Head of Investments and associate partner, when the firm was acquired by Brewin Dolphin in 2019. He remained with the Bath office to ensure a smooth ownership transition, before joining the investment team at RBC Brewin Dolphin’s London City office in 2020. James focuses on the aspect of wealth management he enjoys most, the privileged role of helping clients meet their goals through the effective management of their investments.
