Skilled craftsmanship and fine artistry are the inspiration for wealth management company Brewin Dolphin’s garden at this year’s RHS Chatsworth Flower Show, marking the third consecutive year that the company will have a garden at the popular Derbyshire show. Entitled ‘The Brewin Dolphin Artists’ Garden’, the space will be expertly transformed into a distinctive feature-garden that will cleverly combine the finest horticulture with exciting, interactive art demonstrations on the garden, featuring five prominent artists creating their wares every day.
The five artists are from diverse geographical areas and have a range of craft skills between them; they include a ceramist specialising in Japanese porcelain, an oil painter who creates pop-up art on textile, and a basket maker. The full line-up of featured artists will be unveiled in due course.
Billed as a place of calm, rest and inspiration, ‘The Brewin Dolphin Artists’ Garden’ will take as its theme a traditional artisan cottage garden, complete with a structured open courtyard, Herbaceous borders, a variety of traditional plants, such as Salix, Geranium, Lovage and Topiary Hornbeam and Carpinus, and an Apothecary herbal garden in the front corner to promote wellbeing.
Returning as the creative force behind this year’s Brewin Dolphin garden will be multi award-winning garden designer Paul Hervey-Brookes, who is renowned for creating classically English landscapes and gardens with rich, multi-layered habitats. Paul’s Brewin Dolphin Installation at last year’s RHS Chatsworth Flower Show won the People’s Choice Award.
Paul says: “The idea is to create a space which celebrates craftsmanship and an appreciation of skills. You value the work of an artisan ceramicist, or a willow-basket maker, as they have invested their skills and time. And so through this garden of makers we will also celebrate the skill and value of those caring for and nurturing our family’s wealth, especially in uncertain times.”
Brewin Dolphin has had a long association with the RHS since 2012, and in that time has created many award-winning gardens with renowned garden designers at both the Chelsea Flower Show and the Chatsworth Flower Show.
The RHS Chatsworth Flower Show will run from 5-9th June 2019 at the Chatsworth Estate, Derbyshire. For more information and to book tickets, visit: www.rhs.org.uk
